We live near the Botanical Gardens in Norfolk, Va. A pair of bald eagles have nested there, unaware that they are now on a webcam! We have watched the eggs hatch and the eaglets grow. Every day my daughter and I check in on the babies, who are growing fast. We have seen eels and fish in the nest, we watch Mama feed the babies individually, and now they occasionally peck at the fish themselves!
The recent hot days and resulted in the baby eagles crawling into whatever shade they can find around the nest. If you see them hidden in a corner, return later in the day to find them in another!
Last Sunday we took a trip to the gardens and saw the nest “live.” We were unable to see the babies, but Mama eagle was in the tree next to the nest, keeping an eye out for danger. (Or simply enjoying the beautiful sunny day!) If you look carefully, you will see her in the tree:
